Metal structured packing has different packing types, which can be divided into wire gauze structured packing and perforated plate structured packing.

Metal wire gauze structured packing is made of various metal wires, such as stainless steel wire, monel wire, copper wire and then woven into wire gauze. Wire gauze structured packing has low pressure drop, high separating efficiency, it is the most widely used type among all metal structured packing. It is suitable for precise distillation and vacuum distillation devices.

The structured packing is made of several packings with different geometrical shape and corrugation angle. According to different corrugation angle, it can be divided into X type and Y type. The X type stands for the 30° angle, and the Y type stands for the 45° angle.
